Video Cleanup

Now that you have captured your movie, you are ready to work with it.  If you are just comparing yourself to another performer or maybe doing an analysis of motion, you may not have any need to do a little cleanup.  However, if you are planning on saving your movie or creating a printed version of it, you will need to do a little cleanup work.

The two cleanup tasks are clipping off the extra frames at the beginning and end of your movie and cropping the image to eliminate all but the portion of the frame showing motion.

Video Clipping

Clipping is made simple by use of the toolbar.  Simply play your movie up to the place where the action starts, hit the clip to front button on the toolbar, and the unwanted frames at the beginning are gone!  Play the movie clip to where the action ends, hit the clip to end button on the toolbar and the unwanted frames at the end are gone!

Clipping can be done as a natural part of just looking at your movie.  As you play it through the first time, pause and hit the clip buttons and you will have removed any extra frames.  The ease of removing unwanted frames allows you to capture plenty of video without having to be precise in what you capture.

Movie Cropping

Cropping your movie is important if you plan to print your images as print layout showing the sequence and if you intend to save the movie clip for future reference.   Cropping is made easy by the use of setting a cropping boundary interactively as the movie clip is played and then cropping by a single clip.  Until you save the movie clip permanently as cropped, all you have to do is hit the cropping button a second time to return your movie to it's full size.

VIS has a feature that automatically arranges your frames in a sequence for printing. When the movie is uncropped, part of the  image is usually background.  To optimize the motion, this background must be removed so that the image size is only that which is important.
