Hard Disk

Approximately 3 MB of hard disk space is required for the VIS software and help file. The sample files included with VIS, if installed, consume approximately 15 MB. The How-To tutorials (over 500 MB worth) remain on the VIS CD, and therefore require no hard disk space. 50 MB free disk space for temporary files is required.
For estimated disk space requirements for your data, use a conservative value of 200 two second movie clips per gigabyte of disk space, based on a movie clips resolution of 320 x 240 pixels per frame at 30 frames per second.
As with RAM, you can never have enough disk space. If you are buying a new system, look for a PCI bus based EIDE, UltraATA, or SCSI disk controller. Consider adding a second hard disk to increase your storage capacity and allow for backup between hard disks. Do not use a disk compression utility such as Drivespace - video files are already compressed and additional compression introduces unnecessary overhead.
