Setting Key Frames

With most skills, there are certain frames in the movie that are the most important. In VIS, these frames are termed key frames. You don't have to set key frames, but in most cases, it makes getting a printed image of important information easier and helps to focus the student's attention.

Movies - playing a movie and setting key

To set key frames, simply play the movie to a frame that is key and mark it as a key frame by either

pressing the K key,

Movie/Key frame toggle on the main menu, or

selecting the key symbol on the movie toolbar.

With the mouse in movie mode, you can set key frames by dragging the play cursor to the key frame and then setting/unsetting key frames with a click of the right mouse button while the cursor is over the play tab.
When you mark a frame as a key frame, VIS puts an arrow symbol under that frame in the movie's play bar.
You can jump between key frames while playing a movie by clicking on the K icon on the movie toolbar. With the mouse in movie mode, you can use the Page Up/Down keys on the keyboard to move between key frames.
